Last weekend my husband and I hosted the most delicious "Breakfast Bar" with our family.  The Washington Redskins were playing in London so the game started at 9:30 am.  When my sister called me and "volunteered" us to host the Breakfast Bar, we were totally up for it!  I had quite a few requests for the Breakfast Bar sign after I posted about it on Instagram so I figured I would share it with you in this post!

I printed the sign and put it in a yellow frame from Michaels.  This picture shows the individual cereal boxes and bagels that we had.  I also made pumpkin muffins (recipe can be found here) and we had orange juice and cranberry juice.

We just recently purchased new kitchen appliances and they are perfect for cooking breakfast!  My husband pretty much did all of the cooking!  In this picture we have eggs, hominy, and sausage gravy.  We had breakfast burritos with the eggs.  So yummy!

Bacon and sausage are a MUST for breakfast!

I made this yummy Hashbrown Casserole.  It was a really simple recipe.  You can find the delicious recipe by clicking here.

We had such a fun time enjoying the football game and eating breakfast!  Just click the image below to grab your FREE copy of the Breakfast Bar sign!

And I also wanted to create something that you could use with your students that had a breakfast theme!

For this math activity, students pick a bacon ten frame card.  They count the dots on the card and then color the egg yolk yellow to match the total number of dots on the ten frame bacon card.

Included in the FREE download are two versions of the egg recording sheet.  One has numbers 1-10 and one has numbers 1-20.  This way you can differentiate the activity to meet the needs of your students by only using the ten frames that your students need practice with.

I love using books with repetitive texts with my students.  They are great for independent reading and give my students the confidence they need to become fluent readers.  This Farm Counting Book is great to use with your students for independent reading and it also includes a math integration.

To prepare this little book for my students I first printed the pages of the book.  I made enough copies for my class.  The best part is that I only needed to copy half the size of my class because there are two of each book page per page.  Then, I just cut the page in half and put two staples along the side of the book.
*Copying Tip: This book can be copied double sided to save paper.

For this book I first read the book together as a class so that my students were familiar with the text.  We counted the animals on each page for some one to one counting practice.  I modeled coloring a few of the pages for my students.  Then, I passed out the books for my students to read and color.  After they finished, they could put the book in their book basket for independent reading.

This book is a great addition to a farm unit, animal unit, counting to 10 practice, etc.  You could also send the book home and have students practice reading the book to their families.

I absolutely love using clip cards with my students.  They are so much fun, students can practice a variety of skills, and they are the perfect fine motor activity.  With these Back to School Clip Cards, your students will have fun counting school objects from 1-20 and clipping the matching number.

To prepare this activity, I just printed the clip cards on white cardstock.  I recommend laminating cards for durability.  I used my paper cutter to cut the cards.  I also grabbed some clothespins.  If you are looking for a place to get clothespins, the Dollar Tree sells packs of them.

For this activity, students count the objects on the card and then clip the number that matches the set.  Students continue counting and clipping the cards until they have clipped all of the cards.  This set of clip cards includes sets 1-20.  This activity is perfect to use as a math warm-up, during small guided math groups, or to put out at a math station.  I just used these in my classroom with a small math group and they were so engaged and excited to clip the number!
*Self-checking tip: I recommend putting a dot sticker on the back of the card on the correct answer.  This way students can easily check their answer to see if they are correct.

I always enjoy watching the Olympics!  The Summer Olympics in Rio begin August 5th and I'm excited to watch the different events!  Some of my favorites are Beach Volleyball, Gymnastics, and Diving.

I created some clip cards that have a sports theme.  These would be great to use when returning back to school or to use with your own kids at home when watching the Summer Olympics.

I love clip cards because they are not only fun, but also help with fine motor skills.  These clip cards focus on sets 1-20.  Just cut out the cards and kids clip the number that matches the set.  I would suggest laminating the cards for durability.

These would be a fun math warm-up and would be perfect for a math station.

I have also included an answer key for students to check their work!

Happy Back to School Season!  I wanted to share a quick post with you about something that my students always love!  It's called a Marshmallow Clap!
I honestly cannot remember where I learned this fun little activity from, but the kids always have a blast with it!

To do a Marshmallow Clap your students just pretend there is a marshmallow in between their hands.  When they clap, their hands don't touchWe use it as a way to count and it is amazing!  You could also use it as a cheer in your classroom if you wanted!

Doing a Marshmallow Clap with an imaginary marshmallow is fun, but doing a Marshmallow Clap with a REAL marshmallow is even MORE fun!  We, of course, just HAD to use a real marshmallow to do this clap and then we definitely got to eat our marshmallows - YUM!!

We have been using my Back to School Number and Ten Frame Match to count and clap and it works great.  It's perfect for back to school!
