Rhyming Pictures

We work a lot on rhyming in Pre-K.  We use songs, picture cards, clip cards, and more to help with understanding rhyming.  In the world of online teaching, I came up with a digital Rhyming Pictures resource to use with my students.  I used this in a Zoom meeting with my students.  I shared my screen with them and then I said the picture names and they gave me a thumbs up or down if the pictures rhymed.  It was fun, engaging, and great practice for rhyming.

For this digital resource, you are going to want to make a copy, when prompted (the link to make a copy is in the FREE download found below).  When you make a copy, it will save to your Google Drive.

After making a copy for your drive you will want to make sure you are not viewing in present mode.  You just want students to have the slides.  They will not be able to manipulate the thumbs up/thumbs down images if the slideshow is actually being presented.

Students will see a screen similar to the one below.  They say the picture names and then decide if they rhyme.  If they think it rhymes they move the thumbs up.  If they don't think it rhymes they move the thumbs down.  The correct choice has a check mark under it to self-check.

In this example, students see the two pictures and say, "Cat, Bat."  They decide if they rhyme and move the correct thumb.

Since "cat" and "bat" rhyme, the thumbs up was moved and the check mark under it shows that is the correct answer.

In this example, students see the two pictures and say, "Ring, Mug."  They decide if they rhyme and move the correct thumb.

Since these two words do not rhyme, the thumbs down is moved and the check mark shows that is the correct answer.

Included in this Rhyming Pictures slideshow are 20 slides for rhyming.  10 slides have pictures that rhyme and 10 slides have pictures that do not rhyme.  This is great to send to your students as an assignment activity to do or share your screen and do this with your students together.
